Nature Photography:
The Carpenter Lake area provides a wealth of opportunities for photography of landscapes, wildlife and plants in the Algoma Highlands. The photographer can apply his skills to transform a seemingly ordinary outdoor perspective into an image of artistic merit.
Wildlife photography (a part of nature photography) has tended to emphasise large animals such as moose and bear as subject matter but there are also numerous tiny amphibians, reptiles and even fish whose images can be captured. Digital and motion-sensitive game cameras give an exciting new opportunity for close-up wildlife photography in both day and night without the need for bulky telephoto lenses and tripods. For example, the photo of deer overlooking a forest meadow was taken by a game camera and seems to capture the alertness of the animals as day breaks.
