Carpenter Lake Cabins is located 90 km east of Sault Ste Marie, in the rugged Algoma Highlands of Ontario. The lodge is situated at about a one-day drive from major centers including Ottawa, Toronto, Detroit and Chicago.
Many travelers from eastern and southern Ontario follow Highway 17 west from Sudbury to Bruce Mines, Ontario. Likewise, travelers from the United States typically follow Interstate Highway 75 north to Sault Ste Marie, Michigan where they cross on the International Bridge and proceed east on Highway 17 to Echo Bay.
From Bruce Mines or Echo Bay, follow secondary Highway 638 to the rural community of Ophir. From Ophir, follow the Poplar Dale Road through the rural farming community of Poplar Dale and hence the Carpenter Lake Road to the cabins at Carpenter Lake.
