Canoeing, Kayaking and the Pontoon Boat

Carpenter Lake has a variety of water vessels. Besides the usual boats there are 17-foot, double-pointer aluminum canoes, sit-on kayaks and a large pontoon boat. Locally, you can go for a leisurely paddle on the lake in front of your cabin or explore the meandering Thessalon River northeast of the lake. The Thessalon River leads through weed beds and wetlands and is a great place to view fish in the clear water and wildlife including wetland birds on the shores. Ultimately, a kilometer upstream the river is marked by beaver dams and gives way to shallow rapids.

The pontoon boat has a large flat surface and is great for family outings and group fishing expeditions. It is wheelchair accessible from the dock. Use of the water vessels is free with cabin rental; an outboard motor must be rented to power the pontoon boat.
